Veri-Scribe is a powerful, easy-to-use multi-channel portable recording platform that operates on standard multi-media notebook PC's running Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional or Windows® XP Professional.

Veri-Scribe has been designed to provide reliable recording, with fast and accurate retrieval and playback. Veri-Scribe performs several primary functions:

  • Records audio that is present on the channels to which it is connected.
  • Permits live monitoring and testing of channel audio by authorized users.
  • Stores recordings on the system's hard drive, for immediate on-line access.
  • Permits users to backup or copy recordings to CD-R/CD-RW or a network attached storage (NAS) device.
  • Permits users to annotate audio recordings before, during, and after the recording session.
  • Links the annotations and audio recordings for ease of use by playback users.
  • Permits users to convert recorded audio to multiple standard formats for offline playback.
  • Permits users to insert a previously recorded Veri-Scribe media and easily search for recordings.
  • Permits playback of selected recordings by users.

Veri-Scribe is delivered as a complete, bundled package of functional applications that handle:

  • Recording of the proceeding (Veri-Scribe Recorder)
  • Annotating (indexing) the audio (bundled with Veri-Scribe Recorder and Player)
  • Playing back and copying the audio (Veri-Scribe Player)
  • Playing back and copying the audio from another workstation (Veri-Scribe Client Player)
  • Public playback of audio (downloadable Veri-Scribe Public Player)

Veri-Scribe Recorder

The Veri-Scribe recorder provides tools to record from 1 to 4 channels on a notebook PC, with a variety of compression (recording) rates to conserve storage. Tools are included for active feedback, monitoring, and testing ensure the integrity of the recording.

The Veri-Scribe recorder (Figure 1) provides the interface to configure, start and stop recording of audio from the channel inputs. The recorder is activated with a single mouse click, or a single hot key stroke combination. There is a visual and audio indication of channel status. The module permits testing of the channels prior to start of the recording session, and live monitoring of the channels while recording.
